2017 Audi R8 vs. 2016 Lamborghini Huracán: Performance

When it comes to performance, it is very difficult to decide between the 2017 Audi R8 and the 2016 Lamborghini Huracán. Both offer a 5.2 L V10 engine with 602 HP @ 8250 RPM, 413 lb.-ft. of torque @ 6500 RPM, and a 0-60 MPH time of 2.6 seconds. However, while the R8 V10 is only offered with quattro™ all-wheel-drive, the Huracán is offered with its own all-wheel-drive system and is even available in rear-wheel-drive specification, depending on the demands of each client. The Huracán also idles at 1200 RPM as opposed to the 800 RPM of the R8 V10, giving the Lamborghini a distinct startup and exhaust tone over the Audi, as well as a better off-the-line capability.

While the R8 V10 and the Lamborghini Huracán are based on similar platforms, their largest distinction comes in the way of design language. While Audi has used the R8 as the basis for design cues throughout its lineup, Lamborghini is an entirely different story. Lamborghini has always prided itself on standing out from the crowd no matter what model you choose. When the two supercars are lined up side by side, the angular and ferocious profile of the Huracán is almost guaranteed to steal the show. While the 2017 R8 V10 could easily be mistaken for the previous-generation R8 or even a new Audi TT by the casual passerby, the Huracán retains the eternal bold design of the modern Lamborghini.

2017 Audi R8 vs. 2016 Lamborghini Huracán: Interior Features

While the Audi R8 is reminiscent of other models throughout the Audi lineup, the Lamborghini offers an experience that is truly as special as its exterior. Interior surfaces share the same stealth jet inspired design cues as the outside, down to the red flip-cap above the push-button start switch. While both models use similar infotainment systems, the dash and control unit of the Lamborghini Huracán are more centered towards the driver, again offering the fighter jet cockpit feel that Lamborghini owners expect and demand.

While both models are somewhat similar in performance and platform, here at STL Motorcars, our experts feel that the striking exterior, driveline options, and driver-focused exterior of the 2016 Lamborghini Huracán makes for a much more exciting and personal driving experience than the Audi R8 V10.
